Philanthropy Events
Our three founders: Anna Boyd Ellington, Mary Comfort Leonard, and Eva Webb Dodd adopted the motto "Do Good" in 1873. Since then, every Delta Gamma strives to uphold that motto through our philanthropy work, our dedication to our sisterhood, and our work within the our university and community.
Miles for Sight: Annual 5K Run/Walk
Each fall, the Delta Gamma-Omega chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Madison hosts an annual 5K run/walk called Miles for Sight. Our event benefits:
- Prevent Blindness Wisconsin, a non-profit organization that provides free and direct sight-saving services throughout Wisconsin
- The Delta Gamma Foundation, supporting the four schools for the blind founded by Delta Gamma and other organizations that preserve sight and provide aid to the visually impaired across the country.
As 1 in 4 school age children has a vision problem, the work that both of these organizations do is extremely important.
We are always grateful for auction donations, food donations, sponsorship from companies, and any support you can give! Any questions or donation inquiries can be sent to miles4sight@gmail.com.
Annual Anchor Slam Basketball Tournament
Delta Gamma’s spring philanthropic event, Anchor Slam, is a basketball tournament held on campus for fellow students and other Greek chapters at UW-Madison to participate in. Anchor Slam proceeds go directly to the Delta Gamma Foundation Service for Sight, Prevent Blindness Wisconsin, and OccuPaws. With over 200 participants last spring, Anchor Slam helped raise $1,500 to benefit these foundations.
This spring, we strive to surpass our previous achievements by getting more students involved and raising more money for these worthy causes.
Donations for Anchor Slam are appreciated and welcome. If interested, please contact any of the Directors of Anchor Slam.
